Hallo, mein Name ist Frank und ich bin im wunderschönen Brandenburg zu Hause.

Herzlich Willkommen auf meinem Reiseblog. Hier berichte ich über Ausflüge in die nähere Umgebung, aber auch über Reisen in die Ferne.

Am liebsten fotografiere und berichte ich über Schloss- und Parkanlagen sowie Guts- und Herrenhäuser. Aber auch Städtereisen kommen nicht zu kurz.

🏛️ Marble Palace Potsdam

✨ The Marble Palace in Potsdam, conceived by Frederick William II as a counterpoint to Sanssouci Palace, is considered one of the city’s most underrated palaces. The designs for the early Neoclassical building were created by architects Carl von Gontard, Carl Gotthard Langhans, and Michael Philipp Boumann. Construction of this private retreat began in 1787, and ten years later, Frederick William II passed away in this very palace.

🏛️ Gobelinzimmer im Schloss Ehrenburg in Coburg

Das Gobelinzimmer war einst das Schlafzimmer von Herzogin Susanne Elisabeth und wurde 1816 umfassend umgestaltet. Besonders hervorzuheben sind die wertvollen Gobelins, die 1817 vom Architekten Renié für Herzog Ernst I. in Paris erworben wurden. Ein weiteres Highlight des Raumes ist die prächtige Decke, die Ende des 17. Jahrhunderts von Carlo Tagliota gestaltet wurde. Mit außergewöhnlicher handwerklicher Meisterschaft ragen stuckierte Blatt- und Blütengirlanden sowie musizierende Genien in den Raum hinein und schaffen so ein beeindruckendes dreidimensionales Erlebnis.

Habt ihr die Rundung in einer der Ecken bemerkt? Dahinter befand sich einst eine Wendeltreppe, die direkt in das Gemach des Herzogs führte. Später wurde anstelle dieser Treppe ein Aufzug für Königin Victoria von England eingebaut, die häufig in Coburg zu Gast war.

🏛️ Ancestors‘ Gallery, Ludwigsburg Palace

💫 The Ancestors‘ Gallery is one of the most impressive rooms in Ludwigsburg Palace. The magnificent ceiling fresco by Carlo Carlone, which glorifies the reign of Duke Eberhard Ludwig, the founder of the palace, was preserved even after the renovations of 1805/06. King Frederick I, the first King of Württemberg, had the portraits of the ruling monarchs of the House of Württemberg and their consorts either enlarged or completely repainted.

✨ Ludwigsburg Palace, War Gallery with magnificent stucco work 😍

The Eastern and Western Galleries connect the Old Corps de Logis with the two corner pavilions, the Game Pavilion and the Hunting Pavilion.

Pictured here is the Eastern Gallery, also known as the War Gallery, distinguished by the magnificent stucco work of Riccardo Retti and the depictions of captive pairs by Diego Francesco Carlone. A must-see for lovers of Baroque stucco art.
